01/07 HALLELUJAH

My "Bon Voyage" party in Laguna Beach....I had planned to just slip out of town being tired and bald and basically trashed - but had a brother who wouldn't hear of it. A small gathering of loving family and friends made for a wonderful evening I'll never forget.

The Project

I saved the church and the church saved me. This wonderful renovation project began in August '06 with an attempted act of terrorism. I was to return to So. California from Wisconsin on the day that crazed people with explosives in their shampoo bottles were busted in London and the whole world stood still. I took the option of re-booking my flight a week later and set out to find an interesting place to make my new home. I drove to the country to see a lovely Victorian farmhouse and passed an old church with a simple "For Sale" sign - and the rest is history. Actually, it wasn't all that simple. My offer was accepted in September the same week I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Everyone insisted I cancel the offer....I was too sick - there was too much to do - the job was too big - I had to stay in California - blahblahblah. I told them it would give me something else to think about - a reason to get up every morning - it would save my life.

And it did.
