O6/07 DEMON DEMO

June 2007

The first of a flotilla of dumpsters arrives on 2nd St and the massive demo begins. I am unable to secure any bids from anyone until the bare essentials are exposed and everyone knows what they are dealing with in their future. We find the ghost of an old staircase as well as signs of past water damage

The Project

I saved the church and the church saved me. This wonderful renovation project began in August '06 with an attempted act of terrorism. I was to return to So. California from Wisconsin on the day that crazed people with explosives in their shampoo bottles were busted in London and the whole world stood still. I took the option of re-booking my flight a week later and set out to find an interesting place to make my new home. I drove to the country to see a lovely Victorian farmhouse and passed an old church with a simple "For Sale" sign - and the rest is history. Actually, it wasn't all that simple. My offer was accepted in September the same week I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Everyone insisted I cancel the offer....I was too sick - there was too much to do - the job was too big - I had to stay in California - blahblahblah. I told them it would give me something else to think about - a reason to get up every morning - it would save my life.

And it did.
